Stability of thermocouples, experimental study 2

The accuracy of temperature measurements in a heat treatment furnace obviously depends on the reliability of the probes, provided that the stability of their response can be guaranteed between two calibrations.

However, the standards only specify the tolerance limits of new thermocouples, there are no specifications regarding the stability of their characteristics

Consequently, it seemed relevant to supplement the three series of drift tests, for a month, at 900°C, 1,000°C and 1,100°C of type N and K thermocouples from several suppliers with tests estimating the influence of work hardening at 900°C and 1,100°C and thermal shock test at 1,100°C.
