Methods and tools for generating mission profiles

Real-world operating conditions of heavy equipment used to lift and handle loads are generally not well understood. Only continuous observation, over a certain period, of a statistical sample of instrumented heavy equipment used by operators under normal conditions makes it possible to obtain an objective account. Translating all the data collected for this sample into a mission profile that is concise yet representative of the varied real-world operating conditions of heavy machinery requires using methods for analysing and modelling these data. Cetim’s Handling, Lifting, and Storage Trade Committee therefore commissioned a study to define a method for generating mission profiles for self-propelled machinery. Cetim will review the state of the art of existing methods and test them on industrial cases, such as the lifting movements of a pallet stacker.
