Corrosion in H2S environments

This summary presents the results of a bibliographic study on Sulfide Stress Corrosion (SSC) in the presence of hydrogen sulfide (H 2S), especially in the oil and gas industrial sector. Although the SSC mechanism is still poorly understood, two assumptions are put forward to describe the phenomena related with the action of hydrogen and H 2S. However, it is difficult to accurately predict the behaviour of metals in H 2S environments, since the main problem remains in the variability of the parameters of the environment.
