The 2018 edition of the “ISO dimensioning - GPS specification” handbook is now available in English
The 2018 edition of the Geometrical Product Specification (GPS) Handbook can now be downloaded in English from Cetim’s Mécathèque. It features the latest standards in this area.
Long-awaited by French companies wanting to work outside of our borders or who are part of international groups, the latest version of the ISO dimensioning - GPS (Geometrical product specification) specification handbook is now available in English. It includes both the ISO 1101:2017 and ISO 5458:2018 standards.
A graphical “language”
Geometrical Product Specification (GPS) is a means of communication used by designers, production engineers, quality specialists, inspectors and metrologiststo exchange unambiguous information on the permissible geometries of mechanical parts via the use of specifications (dimensional, geometric and surface condition) provided on drawings. The syntax and semantics of the associated graphic and symbolic “language” are defined in GPS standards.
This Handbook outlines the rules for using this language and the latest changes made to the main elements contained in the basic dimensioning and tolerancingstandards. The 2018 version therefore includes the two most recent publications: ISO 1101:2017 “Geometrical Product Specification (GPS) - Geometrical tolerancing- Tolerances of form, orientation, location and run-out” and ISO 5458:2018 “Geometrical Product Specifications (GPS) - Geometrical tolerancing– Pattern and combined geometrical specification”.
In the same way as the French version updated in 2018, this handbook was created by Cetim in conjunction with the UNMwith support from the FIM, Cetim-Ctdec, Cetim Centre-Val de Loire, Cetim Grand Est, LRCCP, Artema and Symop.
Find the ISO dimensioning – GPS specification handbook in French and in Englishon our website, in the “Mécathèque”section.

Mastering various types of materials (metallic, polymer, composite...) and their particular implementation through processing and assembly processes is the very base of mechanical engineering industry. The technologies used in this sector gradually evolve but remain critical for everybody.
This technological focus includes projects relating to : virtual simulation of manufacturing processes, implementation of innovative manufacturing processes or improvement of existing ones, innovative assembly processes (mechanical ones, but also processes using adhesive bonding or welding), characterization and definition of using conditions for new materials (metallic or non-metallic ones) and nanostructured materials or surfaces.
