France, Germany and Italy are stepping up their cooperation for digitalization of industry

France, Germany and Italy are stepping up their trilateral cooperation to promote digitalization of the manufacturing industry. This is the result of the efforts of the driving committee of the trilateral collaboration between the Industry of the Future Alliance (AIF), Platform Industrie 4.0 and Piano Industria 4.0, the three national initiatives for modernizing the manufacturing industry, at the end of January in Paris.

The combined efforts of the three nations,  which began in June 2017, is continuing and the driving committee has decided to move forward concretely with coordination of national initiatives, in particular in terms of standardization and issues related industrial data ownership. The first joint developments will be announced in the spring of 2018 at major industrial events including Global Industrie in France and the Hanover Fair in Germany.

In addition, the committee has proposed to the European Commission to share the progress made within the framework of the initiative, « Digitalization of European Industry » (DEI) and to inform it about advances in the trilateral cooperation. Synergies between these two initiatives with similar goals have been identified and will be exploited in the future.

The trilateral initiative is organized into three working groups (GT or WG) focused on standardization (GT1), deployment in companies (GT2) and advising public policies (GT3).
