Customised Testing for Euromag Magnets.
According to Euromag, three tests are better than one! Euromag manufactures permanent magnets based on Aluminium, Nickel and Cobalt (AlNiCo) for the aeronautical, powered tools, plastic injection and advertising sectors. Magnets are cast in sand moulds, magnetised, and then ground into their final shapes. As the products leave the foundry, Euromag has decided to apply an X-ray fluorescence analysis and spark spectrometry. The two methods give different results, therefore Euromag asked Cetim to develop a third method, by inductively coupled plasma atomic spectrometry, to confirm the previous measurements and calibrate a new machine. The mission was a success: "by comparing the results obtained using these three analysis methods, we were able to calibrate our machine far more precisely", concluded Grégory Masin.
