Cetim's contribution to the Factory Lab

Factory Lab, the innovation platform for the industry of the future, is starting with nine industrial projects and Cetim is taking part in four of them! These four projects are related to feasibility in two fields: physical assistance to operators and manufacturing & Inspection process automation. As regards automation, Visrob intends to robotise a torque tightening operation, particularly operations required for installing Safran's Leap engine. Along with Safran, PSA Peugeot Citroën and DCNS, Cetim is also studying the feasibility of a "Tightening system slaved to the tightening load by ultrasounds" which integrates Emat's ultrasonic measurement technology, without any couplant or contact. As regards assistance to the operator, Outport is focusing on assistance for handling high or difficult-to-reach portable tools. The first targeted application is a grinding station using, in particular, a motion capture technology. Finally, AMM20, ("assistance in the mobile and flexible handling of 20-kg parts") must assess the reliability of a "cobot"-type system to prevent musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and save cycle time in handling operations.

The Factory Lab is a "project hotel" that was inaugurated in Saclay on 28 September 2016 by Christophe Sirugue, the French Secretary of State for Industry. In fact, this platform located within CEA List is intended to host approximately twenty projects simultaneously for a period of 6 to 18 months. Four main topics are explored: flexible digital plant, manufacturing & inspection process automation, physical assistance to operators and cognitive assistance to operators. In order to meet concrete needs expressed by "users", i.e. industrial manufacturers contributing to the platform (PSA Group, Safran, DCNS, Dassault Systèmes, Actemium), each project includes mature technological bricks from technological suppliers and innovative bricks provided by Cetim, CEA List and the “Arts & Métiers” engineering school.
