Training to three-dimensional measurement

Two new qualifying training sessions for metrology, supported by the French Committee for three-dimensional metrology training (Coffmet), are proposed in Cetim’s 2014-2015 training schedule.

Several industrial companies from the measurement sector (Symop, Cetim and CTDEC), have joined their forces within the French Committee for three-dimensional metrology training (Coffmet) in order to provide three qualifying training sessions for 3D measurement (Coffmet level 1 – User, Coffmetlevel 2 – Metrologist, Coffmet level 3 – Expert Metrologist). The first two levels (User and Metrologist) are included in Cetim’s training programme and the third one is under preparation.

The Coffmet’s objectives are as follows: institute a vocational training cycle giving rise to professional qualification in order to promote three-dimensional metrology trades; ensure industrial managers that their users and programmers have sufficient skills; develop, promote and distribute “standard metrological practices” and take an active part in “Europeanising” three-dimensional metrology training.

In fact, the organisation has been inspired by Aukon, a German partner, in order to be acknowledged by its peers, on an international scale. Aukon training sessions are internationally recognised and are provided in Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Spain, Mexico, Portugal, Brazil, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, etc.

An acknowledged certificate

“Coffmett level 1 – User” is a five-day session intended to train professionals to three-dimensional measurement pursuant to a standard valid for all measuring technologies and acknowledged by industrialists.

Once they have completed this training and passed the final examination, trainees can register for Coffmetlevel 2 – Metrologist. The following topics are addressed during this five-day session: the full measuring process, geometric prismatic measurement, dimensional, form and positional tolerance, measuring and probing strategy, surface measurement on free forms, etc.

After a standardised, independent, final examination, a certificate recognised by the entire industrial sector will be issued to successful candidates.

In addition to Cetim and Symop, Coffmet includes Carl Zeiss, Faro, Hexagon Metrology, Mitutoyo, Renishaw and Werth.
