First international centre of agricultural machinery in Picardy

The Picardy region and Cetim in conjunction with Gima and Agco-Massey Ferguson (manufacturers of agricultural machinery) are launching Pima@tec, the first centre of expertise and innovation in agricultural machinery. This international centre will include two technological platforms with shared equipment, in particular test benches.

Pima@tec, an international centre of innovation and expertise for agricultural machinery was officially launched by Claude Gewerc, Chairman of the Picardy regional council, Emmanuel Vielliard, CEO of Cetim, Richard W. Markwell, CEO of Agco and Markus Westhues, General Manager of Gima.

The platform is set up in a new 2,000 m² building that is in close proximity to the Polytechnic Institute La Salle Beauvais and features significant, shared and innovative items of equipment. It has received a total funding of 20.5 million Euros from the region, Feder and Cetim.

Located within close vicinity to industrial manufacturers in the sector, Pima@tech will include test benches that were specially designed for the development and R&T projects for agricultural machinery such as the tractor power bench and the mechatronic transmissions development bench. It will also house the structures and frame loading bench (4-actuator bench) that will be transferred by Agco in order to facilitate pooling.

In addition, another 700 m 2 building, an extension of Cetim’s current R&D and test platform in Senlis, will be created and will take advantage of the electrical and hydraulic power of the existing infrastructure. This high-powered equipment will be used to perform mechanical loadings of structural components in climatic and vibratory environments that correspond to actual conditions of use. It will also house in particular a high-powered transmission endurance bench for vehicles with 500-horse power or more, as well as multiphysical equipment such as dynamic and high-powered actuators.

Pima@tec is in line with the “Agricultural machinery and new technologies” chair created in early 2015 by the Polytechnic Institute LaSalle Beauvais, Agco-Massey Ferguson and the Michelin corporate foundation. It also complements the platform of the mechatronic institute created by Cetim and UTC.

The work carried out there is fully in keeping with the initiatives conducted in conjunction with the University of Picardie Jules-Verne (UPJV) and the Compiègne University of Technology (UTC).
