Bruno Grandjean elected President of the FIM

Representatives of the “Fédération des industries mécaniques” – FIM (French Federation of Mechanical Industries) appointed the CEO of Redex as their President during the General Meeting of 15 June 2016. Newly elected, he reiterated the need for a competitive industry in France and the central role of mechanical engineering in Nantes, for the 50th anniversary of Cetim.

 

Bruno Grandjean, elected President of the “Fédération des industries mécaniques” – FIM (French Federation of Mechanical Industries) on 15 June 2016, selected Nantes for his first official speech in his new position. During the "Ouvrons les portes du futur" day (“Let us open the doors to the future”) organised on 17 June for the 50th anniversary of Cetim, he reiterated his belief "that a prosperous country is an industrialised country". And the CEO of Redex added, to the attention of the participants in the round table called "The industry of the future on a day-to-day basis", to end the day: "you are demonstrating exactly the action we need to take to boost industry in our country. This is called collective intelligence. "

Representatives of the Fédération des industries mécaniques (FIM) met for their General meeting at the auditorium of the “Maison de la Mécanique” in Courbevoie and elected Bruno Grandjean as President on 15 June 2016. After thanking Jérôme Frantz (the previous President of the federation) for his work, he presented his targets and priorities for the three years of his mandate. "I aim to spread the concept that a positive ecosystem for industry is in the interest of the Nation", he declared. To achieve this, he intends to advertise mechanical engineering to the public, highlight all companies in this sector and attract new and talented individuals to the industry. The new FIM President looked towards the future for industry and also insisted on the role of mechanical engineering in the future developments expected: "The digital revolution is acting as a catalyst for new economic models. Mechanical engineering integrating all advanced technologies has a key role to play in this transition. "

 

An office of leaders

To ensure his success in his new position and represent the mechanical sector, Bruno Grandjean has obtained the support of five Vice-Presidents, reputed industrial stakeholders: Jean-Camille Uring, member of Fives’ board of directors, elected first Vice-President and Treasurer; Sylvie Guinard, Chief Executive Officer of Thimonnier; Laurent Bataille (CEO of Poclain), Pierre Marol (CEO of Alstef) and Frédéric Ségault (CEO of Ségault SAS and Velan SAS). 

   

Recognised skills

Bruno Grandjean, 52 years old, has graduated from both University and engineering school. After completing a Masters at Stanford, he started his career in 1989 as scientific officer for the French consulate in Chicago. He returned to France in 1991, and worked with Turbomeca SA as an engineer, before joining the Redex S.A. teams. He has directed the Redex group, European leader in mechatronics equipment for the metalwork, metallurgical and powered tool industries, since 2005.

In addition to his industrial activities, Bruno Grandjean has acted as Vice-President of the FIM and President of Artema, the Professional mechatronics association. He is also a member of the bureau for the “Alliance pour l’Industrie du Futur” (Alliance for the Industry of the Future), in which the FIM plays a central role alongside Cetim. As an active member of Institut Montaigne, Bruno Grandjean has contributed to several reports on taxation, reinforcing the presence of French companies in international trade and the development of intermediate-sized companies.
