Renewable energies characteristically use a source of energy which is supposed to be inexhaustible and not release CO2. Therefore, they seem to be ideal solutions to this dual issue of production and preservation of the environment.
Some available energy sources are mechanical ocean energy which use marine currents or waves and hydropower energy using river currents.
This report is a state of the art, including market and technologies potentially used to produce energy from currents and waves. A focus on regulation in France is proposed to complete the survey.
