The variability in patient anatomy, implant design/positioning and loading can significantly affect THR performance. Analyses in to THR mechanics often fail, however, to consider those sources of variability. Using a computational tool that can automatically select and position a specific implant to match each femur anatomy from a wide range of CT-based-patient-specific Finite Element (FE) models and simulate the biomechanical performance of THRs, we aimed to capture and assess the possible changes in bone strains but also the effects of parameters such as CCD angle and stem size.
