Hydrogen, a promising avenue to be explored by the automotive sector and the industry of the future
While representatives of the regions and French Hydrogen sector players have rallied together, automotive industry experts confirm the benefits of these technologies for the car of tomorrow.
Hydrogen is a key technology in the energy transition. This was recently reminded in a letter sent to the government by Régions de France and the French Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Association (Afhypac) on 2 April 2019, in which they asked for the Hydrogen plan initiated in 2018 to be made permanent. InCetim’s white paper entitled “Looking ahead: key trends for the automotive sector”, sector experts also outline the appeal of this solution for the car of tomorrow. “Hydrogen could help us achieve our environmental targets, provided that we are able to produce green hydrogen”, stated Carla Gohin, Vice President of Research and Innovation at PSA Group. “There is no doubt thatfuel-cell powered vehicles will be developed over the next decade. We will see a growth in volumes by 2030, when hydrogen will no longer be a niche market”, added Jean-Bernard Lepage, Head of Clean Mobility Marketing at Faurecia.
France can capitalise on this
“With high-level research and industrial players along the entire value chain, France has everything it needs to become an international competitor in this field”, affirmed Régions de France and Afhypac in their letter.
