3D scanning for aircraft transformation.
At Aeroconseil, transforming an ATR72 into a cargo aircraft is common practice. However “in order to enhance our expertise, we wanted to have more accurate data so as to offer our customers a wider range of transformation options and technical modifications” explained Sébastien Ayral, aircraft modification engineer at the company based in Toulouse, France. Therefore the subsidiary of Akka Technologies commissioned Cetim Sud-Ouest to scan the fuselage of an ATR72 in order to create a highly accurate digital model. Working on a tight schedule, Cetim’s experts scanned the entire fuselage and processed the data in close cooperation with the Toulouse-based company. A few weeks later, Aeroconseil had volume and surface files in Catia V5 format representing the internal and external structure of the ATR72 with great attention to detail.
