The results of the Asme BPV Code meetings are online.

The report of the work carried out during the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (Asme) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Week meetings held in autumn 2019 are now available in the Mécathèque. Additive manufacturing was amongst the themes addressed within the 12 sections and a special additive manufacturing committee was formed. This committee focuses on issues such as materials, design, manufacturing, inspections and tests.

The review of non-destructive testing led to resolutions concerning pulsed Eddy currents, pending Asme standards, FMC ultrasonic testing, infrared thermography, advanced ultrasonic techniques, volumetric methods, etc. For its part, the pressure vessels section focused on their design, fatigue analysis, relevant materials and storage temperatures.

It is essential for manufacturers who would like to sell their products internationally to know this Code and monitor its changes. The Fluid equipment committee comprising inter alia manufacturers from the Boiler work – Pipework – Sheet metal work sector, therefore commissioned Cetim to represent the French interests.  Cetim is a member of the boards tasked with examining the use of additive manufacturing processes for pressure retention equipment, NDT equipment and pressure vessels.

The watch note “ASME boiler and pressure vessel - code week meetings - Novembre 2019 – French and English versions” can be consulted on our website in the “Mécathèque” section (content reserved for members).
