Harmonised standards for the European Single Market.
The European Commission (EC) strives to make standardisation more efficient within the Single Market! For that purpose, on 22 November 2018, it presented an action plan aimed at ensuring improved transparency and legal certainty when writing harmonised standards, so as to meet the demand of a fully operational Single Market. The CE’s plan relies on four key actions. 1) Reduce as quickly as possible all the outstanding harmonised standards whose reference still has not been published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU). 2) Rationalise all internal processes to provide standardised OJEU publication procedures. 3) Issue a guideline on the practical aspects of the implementation of Regulation 1025/2012 on European standardisation. And 4) Continuously improve the HAS (HArmonisedStandards) consultant system, in order to make the evaluation of standards faster and stricter.
