Comparing steels through standardised tests
The new AK Steel Nitronic 60 ARMCO grade presents a strong case: four to five times less wear causedby cavitation, no pitting observed after 192 hours of exposure to salt spray and a seven to eight times higher seizing threshold compared with X3CrNiMo 13-4, the steel normally used for applications in the hydropower sector! In order to prove these benefits to European players, the American manufacturer has to provide the possibility of comparing comparable properties. Therefore, it asked Cetim to carry out tests based on European standards.
