Cutting and Forming Sheet Materials
A series of new information sheets containing recommendations for cutting and drawing operations have been produced, to enrich the “Materials for cutting and drawing” database (which was created in June 1999 to record material formability information), and to support sheet metal cutting and forming businesses, which need in-depth knowledge of pressed materials as they strive to satisfy the constantly-changing, ever more demanding requirements of their customers. The development of new sheet (S2036) materials, especially extra-high strength and less common (Inconel and titanium) materials, combined with widespread adoption of digital modelling techniques for forming processes, prompted a new study to characterise Inconel 718, Alu EN AW-2024 O, X8CrNi25-21 and Inconel 718 grade materials. The results of this study are now available to stakeholders.
