Noise transfer function - Transmission error - Numerical part
What are the possibilities of acoustic decoupling between a gear system and the external environment? Answering this question means being able to improve the control of acoustic phenomena linked to the meshing of the teeth, one of the main preoccupations of gear manufacturers. The Cetim “Mechanical Transmissions” professional committee therefore initiated works to reduce the airborne and structure-borne propagation of noise generated by gear teeth at gear mesh frequencies. The objective is to define the methods for calculating the vibro-acoustic behaviour of casings. This new study is based on the comparison of existing methodologies for calculating the transfer functions between the transmission error and the radiated noise. It concludes that the approach used should provide a good compromise between the quality of the results obtained and the associated computational effort. The model used has been produced using CodeAster, an open source finite element analysis software. The scripts developed for modelling the gear noise are provided in the study report.
