Establishment of an expansion range for a DC04 steel and a S420MC steel

Sheet metal press operators regularly perform sheet metal stamping, or expansion stamping, as this technique allows them to perform particular operations and helps them save material. However, due to lack of data on establishing strip layout on sheet metal, they apply this practice based solely on their experience, and it also requires them to perform preliminary tests on the press. Several studies have already been performed to fill out this lack of data. The one (S2035) described here, whose results will be integrated into the task sheets in the CETIM materials data folder, supplements them with regard to the forming of square stamps for DC04 and S420MC steels, for which the purpose of characterisation work is to provide the technical data required for defining expansion ranges and to establish the rules for developing them.
