Cold work tool steels

This guide (9Q365), prepared on the initiative of the “Heat Treatment and Dry Coatings” Committee, in collaboration with professional commissions, treatment providers, coating suppliers and steelmakers, aims to provide the methods for properly selecting steels, heat treatments and cold work materials. After reviewing the various sources of damage (abrasion, compression, tensile stress, fatigue, wear, friction), this guide can be used to properly select types of steel according to their properties, associated heat treatments and according to the stresses they are subjected to. Ultimately, the purpose of this guide is to facilitate and encourage dialogue and exchange among the various actors working with these materials.
