Sébastien Gillet sheds light on the upcoming editions of Global Industrie
Following the first edition of Global Industrie, a combination of Industrie Paris, Midest, Smart Industries and Tolexpo, its director talks about the trade show’s success and reveals several details about its future in an interview granted to Cetim Infos.
For the first time this year, Global Industrie, organised by GL Events, brought together four trade shows: Industrie Paris, Midest, Smart Industries and Tolexpo, with the goal of uniting all the various branches of a sector, including the manufacturer, subcontractor, demonstrator and solutions provider. How would you assess this first edition? “For four days, alongside our 2,700 exhibitors, we illustrated the legitimate interest in combining these trade shows, stated Sébastien Gillet in Cetim Infos No. 242 of June 2018. And “with 40,800 visitors in 2018, the trade show saw a significant rise in participation with respect to the previous editions of all four trade shows combined”, he explained.
Next edition in Lyon in 2019
What about the next session in Lyon, in March 2019, one month before the Hanover Fair? “In 2019, our goal is to have 2,500 exhibitors, spread out once again over 100,000 m 2 (we will occupy almost all of Eurexpo). The focus will still be on the connected plant, the Campus and undoubtedly a few innovations”, revealed the Director of the fair. “As in Paris, we will maintain the identity of the 4 trade shows which have strong brand images, while putting strong emphasis on Global Industrie as the new common brand to gradually establish its presence with each edition. There will be more regional pavillions than in Paris, with the arrival of Grand Est and Occitanie. The “Smile” Programme which provides secondary school pupils with the opportunity to discover the world of industry via dedicated pathways, will also be showcased. The concept was initiated in Lyon in 2017, in conjunction with the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Region and the bartering trader association.”

Mechatronics is for products and equipments as well. It deals with an integrated method to design, validate and manufacture functions which performances are guaranteed by an optimal assembly of various components (mechanical, electrical, electronical and data processing ones).
In the field of control and measurement, improvements are mainly found in the fields of production system management and real-time adjustment in order to guarantee product quality. There is also the development of via-Internet management of production machines, so that one machine can be shared by various industrials.
This technological focus includes projects relating to : mechatronical design, process and product automation and monitoring, measurement control, maintenance and monitoring of operating machines.
