Cetim expands its range of tomography services
Cetim has acquired a new highly accurate X-ray tomograph which expands the Centre’s NDT capabilities.
With the latest acquisition of a highly accurate X-ray tomograph, Cetim has just increased its fleet of X-ray tomographs to six. X-ray tomography is a non-intrusive imaging method used to carry out non-destructive testing (NDT) on a part, producing a sectional or 3D representation of the object. As a key technology for the industry of the future, it serves inter alia to thoroughly characterize the structure of all types of material in order to isolate any defects.
A specialist team and equipment
Cetim has strong potential to meet the requirements of industrial manufacturers with its six 140 KV to 600 KV tomographs, its processing software to analyse tomographic data and its team of specialists.
The new tomograph makes it possible to inspect parts that are 350 mm in diameter, 500 mm high and can penetrate up to 20 mm of steel, with highly accurate image resolution of up to 5 µm on small parts.
The fleet covers a range of inspectable volumes spanning 350 x 500 mm to 900 x 1600 mm (d x h) and can explore the material at depths of 10 to 40 mm of steel.
