The Île-de-France region will support the Additive Factory Hub

On 26 June 2017, the Île-de-France region unveiled an industrial development plan worth 305 million euros of investments. A part of this amount will be allocated to the project of additive manufacturing research platform steered by Cetim and to supporting small and medium companies in their process of modernising their production tools.

Valérie Pécresse, the President of the Île-de-France region, demonstrated her belief in additive manufacturing and innovative platforms. During the kick-off meeting for the “strategy for smart industry in Île-de-France” held on 26 June in Paris, she declared that “the region will support the Additive Factory Hub project”. Indeed, as Valérie Pécresse said, this plan provides for “2.5 million euros of investment in this project steered by Cetim”. This industrial support plan, presented by the Île-de-France region, also includes 180 million euros of subsidies to support innovation and help companies modernise their production tools, and 125 million euros for training.

40 million euros of investment over 5 years

With the Additive Factory Hub, Cetim has the ambition to create, on the Plateau de Saclay area, a research platform of international calibre dedicated to industrial development by additive manufacturing. The objective of this platform is to pool expertise and high-performance resources to meet the challenges of this technology and increase its impact in the industrial sector. This project, worth 40 million euros over 5 years, federates major industrial and academic stakeholders such as Cetim, Safran, CEA List, Arts et Métiers, Onera, SystemX, Air Liquide, Polyshape, EDF, Addup, etc.

Support for the modernisation of small and medium companies in the Paris region

This new platform in the Île-de-France region will become a place for dissemination, training and transfer of technologies towards small and medium companies which will thus have the opportunity to rely on resources and a team of experts to familiarise themselves with additive manufacturing-related technologies. Therefore, the platform will contribute to another objective of the plan implemented by the Île-de-France region: “provide support to 500 industrial companies over 5 years to help them improve their industrial performance”. This includes, among other things, joint funding of operational performance surveys and long-term tailor-made assistance to help companies implement a suitable action plan.

Presentation

With the Information System, every actor of a project can be internally interconnected. This system supports the firm's activity and set up skills and knowledge, which thus can be easily accessed and used. On a technological level, a codesign of objects compels all suppliers to be implied in the creation of a usually virtual prototype before it is actually manufactured. Concerning management, it deals with defining or redefining firm strategy and improving its performances.
This technological orientation includes projects relating to knowledge and skill management, industrial performance and extended enterprise management.
