Video: Schick Esteve uses Big Data to transform its value chain
This new Industry of the Future testimonial posted on the Cetim France Youtube channel recounts the transformation of a boilermaker into a process engineering company through the use of scanning tools and the instrumentation of its machines.
“Traceability and Big Data are our way of advancing towards the industry of the future”, explained Jean-François Marette, CEO of Schick Esteve, speaking of the transformation of his company in a video available on the Cetim France Youtube channel.
As a matter of fact, in only a few years, the manufacturer of production lines for the agri-food industry has moved from “an industrial boilermaker to a process engineering company”. Schick Esteve drew on the instrumentation of its machines and “in-house” software to develop a solution making it possible to work Big Data on the entire data of a production line. “Via this Big Data, the goal is to pursue a two-stage approach: the analysis of data which is a conventional science, and then to subsequently branch out to other areas including Data Mining, i.e. searching for relevant information in data sets to enable the customer to improve its agility on a market”, explained Jean-François Marette.
This transformation has resulted in a 50% increase in the company’s turnover in five years with a 38% fraction on the export market, and has also led to a radical turnaround in the composition of the company’s workforce. Subsequent to training sessions and new hires, “For two years now, we have had more design office personnel than production personnel”, noted the CEO of Schick Esteve.
