Test your products for free in the Capme’Up NDT workshops

A certain number of NDT technologies will be made available to companies for free during tailor-made NDT workshops, with comments and explanations given by Cetim experts on demonstrators. These technologies are: parts sorting, tightening torque check, burn detection, crack detection, corrosion or erosion detection, inspection of welds or a shaft, detection of surface defects on composite or metal materials, simulation, etc.

Within the last few years, the new Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technologies have become an industrial reality with concrete applications in various sectors such as manufacturing, energy, transport, etc. These technologies are now well-proven, but sometimes they are used in new applications thereby allowing time saving, cost reduction, better traceability and reduced environmental impact.

The drop in the price of the equipment has rendered these innovative NDT technologies (TOFD, phased-array ultrasonic testing, active infrared thermography, X-ray tomography, acoustic emission testing, ferromagnetic noise, etc.) accessible to small and medium companies as well as to intermediate-sized companies which occasionally perform testing operations. Furthermore, these NDT technologies are often the best technical and economic response to the new industrial requirements regarding testing, monitoring and maintenance.

In order to help companies take this step, materialise a project and discover these technologies and their applications, Cetim and CEA List have implemented free NDT workshops within the scope of the Capme’Up programme. These workshops are open for a maximum of ten persons and “tailor-made” to present, study and solve the specific problems of the industrial companies that will attend. The following subjects will be dealt with: sorting of treatments or material grades through eddy current and ultrasonic testing, check of bolt tightening torque by means of Emat sensors, detection of grinding burns on gears with ferromagnetic noise, inspection of metal or composite parts by active infrared thermography, TOFD testing of welds, phased-array ultrasonic testing of a shaft and presentation of Gekko, a new phased-array ultrasonic imaging system.

These workshops will take place over a limited timeframe (from 2 to 4 p.m.) but, for particular cases, they may also be continued in specific tailor-made sessions.

Four sessions are already scheduled to take place on 24 September, 23 October, 19 November and 17 December 2014 in Cetim facilities in Senlis, France.

With the support of the Carnot Cetim Institutes, CEA LIST and Ifpen Transport Énergie, the Capme’Up programme, initiated in the scope of the investments for the future - Investissements d’avenir (call for projects: ANR (French national research agency) Valorisation Carnot) has made three technological platforms available to companies: innovative Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), interactive robotics and system integration. The programme has now a unique website (www.capmeup.fr)
