Three studies to learn more about heat treatments, additive manufacturing and the robotisation of blanking/drawing equipment
How can the possible interactions with a chemical product be avoided during a step of the product manufacturing process (lubrication, forming, heat and surface treatment)? What metallic powders should be used during additive manufacturing? How can blanking/drawing machines be profitably robotised? Cetim’s experts have worked on these questions and provide practical answers through three studies. The first takes a look at the contaminants present on the surface of parts prior to treatment and analyses the deterioration of the contaminated surfaces subsequent to quenching and tempering heat treatments, as well as the methods for inspecting the degreasing and stripping of the parts, with test results in support. Various papers have been written to summarise the studies and to raise the awareness of personnel to the problems encountered. The second includes an assessment of the current and future range of materials that will be available for metallic additive manufacturing mainly through powder-based processes. It provides information on the materials, their supply and their capacity for these new processes. Finally, the third looks at the adaptation of a flexible and mobile robotised cell (CRFM) for the loading and unloading of parts on blanking/drawing rework presses. Here again, examples are given in support as an experiment conducted in a volunteer company helped to validate its interest in real conditions.
