Mechatronics are the industry of the future
Artema, the union for the mechatronics industry, is convinced, "in an increasingly connected industry, mechatronics offers an infinite range of possibilities and places humans at the centre of the plant of the future" We can offer proof in the form of video footage available online on the Youtube channel. This video, with the title "la mécatronique fait l’industrie du futur" (Mechatronics, the industry of the future), focuses on the details of the contributions made by these components, which combine mechanical, electronic and software engineering, on a packaging line. At the start of the line, a mechatronics drive module manages the movements of the picking robot with its parallel architecture, consuming less energy than the traditional version. A guide rail, fitted with instruments, placed in the dosing-filling machine, ensures precise position while reducing mass by 30%. An electrical linear stopper on the belt can stop the box being filled progressively, and reduce the sound levels of the system, while the drive units fitted as part of a decentralised network simplify cabling… As illustrated by the video, for each individual item of equipment, "the embedded intelligence [provided by the mechatronics] oversees productivity, precise movements, energy efficiency and preventive maintenance for the entire line".
