Matel Couleurs Textiles: when protecting the environment leads to savings.
Divide the investment involved in effluent treatment by three! Matel Couleurs Textiles is facing this very challenge with the assistance of Cetim. In 2016, when the SME based in Roanne, specialising in "woven fabric" dyes and sizing, discharged 400 m 3/day of waste into the public sewage system, according to the Inspectorate for classified sites, it was required to ensure that its hydrocarbon discharges remained below the legal limit of 10 mg/l. An initial study by a service provider concluded that a treatment plant could be opened at a cost of one million euros. This would have represented approximately 50% of the company's annual turnover! Matel Couleurs Textiles then contacted Cetim. The two firms studied the dye process from start to finish. According to the study, the hydrocarbons in the process could be eliminated in one single operation: grease removal. This would reduce thevolume of discharges to be treated to a maximum of 40 m 3/day and an electrocoagulation system could be fitted for a cost of ...350,000 euros.
