Innovation 2030: The risk management phase will start on 2 October 2014

Innovation 2030, a support programme for major innovations chaired by Anne Lauvergeon and founded by the BPI (French public investment bank) has been implemented to fund companies’ projects and create tomorrow’s French champions. The resulting Worldwide Innovation Challenge allowed the selection of several dozens of projects (initiation phase) pertaining to seven main subjects: Energy storage, Recycling of metals, Development of marine resources, Plant proteins and plant chemistry, Personalised medicine, the Silver economy (innovation at the service of longevity) and Big Data (better use of large quantities of data).

The “risk management phase” will start on 2 October 2014. This second phase will make it possible to support promising projects with large-scale research and development work correlated to a marketing objective and an ambitious business plan. The innovation expenses of the selected projects may be funded with amounts ranging from 1 to 3 million euros per project; this funding will be in the form of subsidies and repayable advances, in balanced proportions.

This challenge is open to all types of companies. The only condition is that companies have to propose a major innovation in one of the seven abovementioned fields.

Award winners from the first phase of the Worldwide Innovation Challenge as well as award winners of the other Contest for the creation of innovative technology companies working in the 7 abovementioned subjects are specifically encouraged to file an application for this second phase. Note that application to the “risk management” phase does not require prior participation to the first “initiation” phase.
