Composite parts for the automobile sector: Snop is in the starting blocks!

Snop and Cetim recently proved that the high-speed production of composite parts is possible!. In an automotive market undergoing radical changes, the company, which specialises in the stamping of metal automotive bumper beams, wanted to assess the possibilities of using composite materials to manufacture these parts. To this end, the two partners created an industrial demonstrator based on the Centre’s Quilted Stratum Process (QSP), a high-speed composite pilot line. Although the impact tests have been conclusive, for the time being, the company has decided to invest in a new hot stamping facility. “This is an entirely strategic decision supported by the company’s prospects in its various markets”, explained Bernard Hugot, process innovation manager at Snop. “With this project conducted with Cetim, we are ready for composites in the automotive sector as soon as the market calls on us.”

The patented QSP technology was developed in partnership with two laboratories (Comp'Innov and Onera) and three French mechanical engineering companies (Pinette Emidecau Industrie, Compose and Loiretech).
