Cetim and FIM present the factory of the future to the French National Assembly

On 16 December 2014, FIM, Cetim, Fives and some fifteen heads of mechanical engineering companies discussed the challenges related to the factory of the future with the members of the parliamentary group of the mechanical engineering industries.

The creativity and expertise of the mechanical engineers have enabled the innovations of all these industries and will facilitate the factory of the future which is essential to their competitiveness”, explained Jérôme Frantz, chairman of FIM in his introductory speech.

In light of the increasing competition from emerging countries, our small and medium industries must be equipped with the latest, most efficient and economical production means in order to move upmarket and strengthen their competitiveness at a low cost”, pointed out in turn Philippe Contet, innovations and technology manager at FIM.

A methodological and financial assistance programme for small, medium and intermediate companies will be put in place with the aim of achieving this goal and rolling out tomorrow’s technologies in our companies. Industrial diagnoses will be financed by regional councils. Bpifrance has already begun granting “Usine du Futur” (factory of the future) loans.

Philippe Choderlos de Laclos, General Manager of Cetim underscored that “to succeed, we must channel our energies and share our experiences. We must also be instrumental in bringing about a change in the conventional financial engineering for aid to small and medium industries, by integrating an investment aid in the form of a grant”.
