Alsace launches a label for its plants of the future
After awarding the “Label Alsace Excellence” to the new site of the engine solutions manufacturer, SEW Usocome, at Brumath, in June 2015 (launch of the label), the series continued with two more industrial operators. Socomec, a supplier of electrical equipment, and Pöppelmann, a specialist in plastic transformation, have now joined SEW Usocome. Socomec received the label for its policy, which led to the construction of a positive energy building in Benfeld. This policy is based three principles: the strict minimum necessary, continuous production and decentralised management. Pöppelmann received the label for its 100% electrical and ecological site at Rixheim.
“Label Alsace Excellence” is awarded by the “Agence d’Attractivité de l’Alsace”, and aims to better export the “Grand Est” region and its effective firms in an international scope. The labels are intended for legal entities, establishing their position as responsible companies, regardless of their business segment or size. In order to obtain the label, companies must satisfy various criteria and be audited by an accredited organisation. After this stage, their application will be assessed by the “Alsace Excellence” committee. 23 companies currently hold this label.
