A new Chairman for the Association of Carnot institutes

The members of the Association of Carnot institutes (Ai Carnot) Board have elected their new Chairman.

Philippe Véron will thus be taking over from Marie-Noëlle Semeria.

Since 2017, the head of the Carnot Arts institute has occupied the position of deputy Chairman. He will notably be assisted by two deputies: Pierre Toulhoat and Cathie Vix-Guterl, respectively of the BRGM and Mica Carnot institutes.

Since 2015 Philippe Véron has headed the Arts institute which aggregates 20 research laboratories of the École nationale supérieur d’arts et métiers (Ensam) and its partner universities. He helped in the reopening and internal organisation of the institute as well as the increase of industrial transfers, in particular to SMEs. His remit as Chairman will “primarily involve supporting the Carnot institutes in strengthening their research partnership with French and international companies and in promoting the recognition and renown of the Carnot institutes in line with our results”, specified P. Véron.

Upon his appointment, he emphasised the considerable importance of the network of Carnot institutes in the field of research to encourage the innovation of companies and as a decisive factor for the development of direct relationships between companies and the public research sector.

As a leader of partnership research, the Carnot network comprises 38 structures including the Cetim Carnot institute.

It has been structured to meet the requirements of eight market sectors in order to promote the integration of partnership research and access to the scientific and technological skills of the network for small, medium and intermediate enterprises.
