A European project to boost the machining performances of SMEs!
Machining 4.0, a new European Interreg project officially launched in October 2018, partnered by Cetim, aims to raise the technological levels of companies in north west Europe, particularly for machining. The target: Machining 4.0 aims to ensure that 1,000 SMEs are aware of innovative machining technologies and support 250 of these SMEs with trials with R&D partners, and 50 SMEs with investment in new production resources, over the coming three years. Cryogenic machining, additive manufacturing and laser surface texturing are just some of the popular innovative technologies.
The Machining 4.0 is a 3-year project with a budget of 4.25 million euros (60% funded by the European Regional Development Fund), led by the Belgian technical centre, Sirris, working with around a dozen partners from seven different European countries. Cetim is managing a sub-section in cooperation with the professional union for machining and special machines (Amics-E&PI-Symacap) and with the UIMM, under the title: "codevelopment and demonstration of the practical applications of Machining 4.0".
