7 theses and masters at the AFH!

Research has started at the Additive Factory Hub! On 21 June 2018, the partners of AFH met in Saclay (Essonne, France) to unveil the first seven research topics conducted within the platform dedicated to additive manufacturing, in connection with theses and masters.

This open and shared platform which was inaugurated in December 2017 gathers academics, research institutes and technical centres, technology providers and end users, as well asmajor corporations and SMEs in a single location. It is both aimed at serving additive manufacturing research and supporting the increasing maturity of the French industrial fabric by leveraging on several major priorities: the control of processes, the control of metallurgy, inspection, simulation, numerical chaining and knowledge management (database and AI).

These theses and masters will relate in particular to the simulation of the laser-material interaction of LBM and LMD processes, granular behaviour, inspection and harmfulness of defects, etc.

Additive Factory Hub, coordinated by Cetim and hosted by CEA List, both founding members of the Industry of the Future Alliance, is also a forum for dissemination, training and technology transfer to SMEs. Following the Industry of the Future Alliance Roadmap, the Additive Factory Hub structures the additive manufacturing ecosystem and represents an international showcase of French know-how. The platform is fully in keeping with the Paris Region’s Smart Industry strategy. The Paris Region contributed 2.5 million Euros in funding for the investments of the platform during the first phase (mid-2017 - 2018).
