Video – Pinet experiments with flexible and mobile robotics

Pinet is killing two birds with one stone. By fitting its workshop with a flexible and mobile robotised cell suited to the cutting and drawing industry (CRFM-DE), the hinge and locking system specialist is fighting against musculoskeletal disorders and increasing its productivity, as shown in this video shot in its plant, in Chaulnes (Somme, France).

The operation was conducted during an event in the scope of Cetim’s “sheet metal cutting, drawing, and forming” commission, intended to demonstrate to those industrial manufacturers the interest of investing in low-cost and safe flexible and mobile robot systems (CRFM) for the robotising of simple handling operations on rework presses. As Pinet was faced with frequent series changes on its presses, the company volunteered for an experiment in real conditions. We wanted to check those robots’ capacity for adaptation [from both a quantitative and dimensional standpoint]”, explained Bruno Boussoualim, the methods technician in charge of integration.

In practice, the robot picks up a pre-assembled part from a loading area in front of the machine, places the part on the tool for die forging and bending, then picks up the part again after the operation. Result of the experiment: “This is the right solution for the flexibility from one workstation to another in our company”, assesses Bruno Boussoualim.

What is more, the installation and starting of the robot were relatively easy. The feedback from the technicians on their use is also very good. The test was a resounding success”, says Pascal Gentien, manager of the Chaulnes plant.
