The FIM explains the Echa guide concerning substances in the articles

FIM has prepared a commented translation of the Echa guide (“Requirements on substances in articles”) to help dispel the confusion that sometimes ensues from official documents on the Reach regulation.

The European Chemical Agency (ECHA) has updated its guide regarding requirements on substances in articles in order to take into account the European Union Court of Justice’s decision dated 10 September 2015 on the concept of article. This guide, which was published in June 2017, is only available in English and some information included in the guide may be confusing for non-specialists. Moreover, “this guide is not enough to address the issue of “complex objects and very complex objects” such as those placed on the market by our companies”, explains the Federation of mechanical industries (FIM). Therefore, the FIM undertook to translate certain portions of this guide by including clarifications whenever necessary (in red in the document), in order to make it easier to understand.

This translation of the ECHA guide "concerning substances in articles" can be downloaded from the FIM site.
