SNRI’s pressure seal gate valve meets the requirements of the oil and gas markets
SNRI sought to extend its range of services to the oil markets. This has been achieved with the “Malbranque - SNRI” 4-inch 2500-pound pressure seal gate valve which has successfully met the requirements of the ISO 15848-1:2006 class BH fugitive emission tests.
SNRI’s desire is to diversify its customer base by extending its range of services to the oil and gas markets. To this end, it called on Cetim to carry out nominal pressure sealing tests of the “Malbranque - SNRI” pressure seal gate valve (4 inches in nominal diameter and with a pressure rating of 2,500 pounds) in accordance with Standard ISO 15848-1:2006. “There are two reasons that led us to subcontract the technical tests to Cetim, firstly the expertise of the valve team and secondly the fact that we had been satisfied with work already carried out together”, explained Rémy Treille, technical manager at SNRI.
The sealing tests were carried out with a helium mass spectrometer after several hundreds of opening-closing cycles of the valve at different temperatures and pressures up to 400°C and 400 bar.
Improvements were made to the stuffing box and to tightening of the buffer cap during assembly of the valve on the production line in order to achieve BH sealing and CO1 endurance classes. In the end, the “Malbranque-SNRI” pressure seal gate valve was certified compliant with ISO 15848-1:2006.
