Midest 2014 awards: 10 winners honoured

During their ninth edition, the Midest awards were granted to ten companies competing in six categories. The trophies, which are intended to enhance industrial subcontracting and to reward particularly remarkable companies, also reflect an undeniable evolution of the market and products.

Sixty applications in six categories, 20 nominees ready to compete and, eventually, approximately ten winners: these are the figures of this new 2014 edition of Midest awards which took place in the scope of the international subcontracting fair on 7 November 2014.

In the “Design Office” category, the Addix company won the award with the formulation of a specific type of elastomer to be used, in particular, on the Airbus A350 aircraft.

In the “Innovation” category, three companies seduced the jury with their outstanding ideas and creations: Color-Consulting designed a new holoptic paint which opens new laser engraving perspectives, EP ingénierie set up an automated welded plate girder assembly bench, and Robocortex developed the AugmentedPro augmented reality solutions which make it possible to reduce execution times and costs.

From an “International” standpoint, Geffica seduced the jury with its tremendous development out of France, in particular with its subsidiary, Soma, in Tunisia.

Alsace Tôlerie was awarded in the “Organisation” category. This company’s teams, which specialise in laser cutting, bending and mechanised welding, have developed an on-line cutting service for professionals: John Steel Pro.

The Sipa group makes complex assemblies with foam materials (expanded polystyrene, polypropylene ether, etc.) and thermoplastic materials. Its customer, Proteor, specialising in disabilities and orthopaedics, has developed products made of cross-linked expanded polystyrene and decided to control its production of this type of components. The two companies jointly developed an innovative process for cross-linked expanded EVA and their joint efforts were rewarded by an award in the “Partnership – Alliance” category.

Two companies were rewarded in the “Outstanding implementations” category. The first one, Estelec Industrie, designed and manufactured the Pegasus X-Ray DR, a mobile radiology station on behalf of Scil, its customer specialising in veterinary diagnosis. The second one, Tiag Industries, developed blown floaters for floating solar power plants abroad.

Finally, Dorier Plast’ designed the Velaqua, a playful water sport equipment item, and obtained the jury’s special prize.
