Liebherr Machines Bulle, multilingual functional dimensioning
The industrial engine manufacturer has launched a training campaign for proficiency in international dimensioning standards. This training campaign is designed to guarantee the compliance of its products on all markets and to maintain the quality of co-developments achieved with international partners.
A thorough knowledge of international dimensioning standards is fundamental for a company that manufactures engines designed for public works machinery sold worldwide. Liebherr Machines Bulle SA (LMB) is acutely aware of this fact, all the more so as this subsidiary of the Liebherr group engages in many co-developments with international partners whose work relies on ISO (International Standard Organisation), or ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) standards, as the case may be. Therefore, LMB has decided to train its teams in both systems.
To this end, it commissioned Cetim’s experts to create an intensive three-day on-site training session for two groups of 14 people.
Made-to-measure training course
This training course, which was initially developed for manufacturers was then extended to the entire production chain. “We are very pleased with the results as the participants were able to acquire these new dimensioning and tolerancing philosophies for mechanical parts and above all they were able to understand them and once again be alerted to the importance of dimensioning on technical drawings”, explained Christophe Petite, who heads the design office at LMB. The company intends to take this initiative a step further. As a matter of fact, it has decided to train a group of specialists tasked with monitoring the quality of technical drawings and drawing up good practice guidelines.
