Intercut 2015 explores tomorrow’s processes
The 9 th Intercut machining congress will take place on 8 October 2015 in Saint-Etienne, France. Cryogenic turning of titanium, electrochemical machining and additive manufacturing are some of the promising processes featured in this year’s edition.
Intercut, the machining specialists’ favourite congress, organised by Cetim, Enise and the Intercut Network Consortium, will be back on 8 October 2015 in Saint‑Etienne. The previous edition, held in 2012, attracted 220 people over two days. This year’s event will feature 150 participants, among which major French and foreign industrialists from various sectors.
The agenda will include conferences on topical issues and 12 demonstrations in Cetim Saint‑Etienne and Enise. The day will end with a business convention which will allow visitors to meet the consortium’s experts in the areas addressed during the congress.
The ninth edition of the “machining specialists’” congress will especially focus on three very promising processes for the mechanical engineering sector: Precise Electrochemical Machining (PECM), cryogenic assisted turning of titanium and additive manufacturing. The first process, PECM, is extremely accurate and still not widely in use in France, but it is already one of Cetim’s means of production. The second one, cryogenic assisted turning of titanium, is a promising alternative for conventional lubrication; it is a project of the Intercut Network consortium, financed by the Funds for Industrial Innovation (F2i). As for additive manufacturing, this third process features a set of operations besides the removal of cuttings and forms the subject of many questions from conventional machining specialists. Intercut 2015 will tackle this topic as a whole, with details on the technologies, the materials used and the finish obtained on the manufactured parts.
