A first tree for Pima@tec and the launch of a new cluster in Beauvaisis
At the launch of the Beauvaisis regional centre for “Innovation, Agritech and Agricultural Digital Technology”, the local elected officials and partner industrial manufacturers planted the first Pima@tec tree. This is a concrete example of Cetim’s enhanced regional presence in line with the strategic choices and directions taken by the region.
Monday 14 May 2018 marked the official launch of the new regional centre for Innovation, Agritech and Agricultural Digital Technology. The ceremony was attended by Caroline Cayeux, president of the Beauvaisis conurbation authority and mayor of Beauvais and Marie-Sophie Lesne, Vice-President of agriculture and agri-food for the Hauts-de-France region.
The conurbation authority, supported by the Hauts-de-France region partnered with top-level players such as Unilasalle, AGCO, Gima, Isagri and Cetim in order to create this first ecosystem that combines Agritech and Agricultural Digital Technology. Therefore, by bringing together this group of experts in their respective fields, Beauvaisis is at the cutting edge of agricultural innovation.
Following the signature of the memorandum of agreement to officially launch the centre, the first Pima@tec tree was planted, thus setting the stage for the first international centre of innovation and expertise for agricultural machinery and technology in Hauts-de-France.
One tree, symbolising the agriculture of the future
With this new regional centre, Beauvaisis aims to attract and foster the development of Start-ups and companies in the sector. It also hopes to stimulate innovation and R&D, develop employment, cooperation and promote the pooling and sharing of resources. The event also saw the renewal of the agricultural machinery and new technologies chair and the inauguration of Agrilab.
However, the official launch of this future regional cluster was above all the opportunity to highlight the world’s first centre of innovation and expertise for agricultural machinery.
The 2,500 m 2 centre located close to the Unilasalle campus should be ready in 2019. Pending this, on Monday May 14th, elected officials and industrial and scientific partners planted the first Pima@tec tree.
Given the dawning challenge of having to feed 9 billion people by 2050, Pima@tec will provide a solid footing for the Hauts-de-France region to provide energy efficiency solutions for the agriculture of tomorrow and foster the competitiveness of local industrial players.
This synergy will make it possible to overcome challenges such as future models of tractors, combined harvesters, etc. less prompt to the problem of component fatigue or weather conditions. One further added benefit will be the update of connected equipment making it possible to sew the best plots of land, among other things.
Located within close proximity to the industrial manufacturers of the sector, Pima@tec will therefore incorporate various test benches and thereby be able to reproduce tests which push the machines to their limits.
This new Cetim platform has received funding of 20.5 million euros divided between the region, Feder and Cetim.
Pima@tec was launched in 2015 by the region and Cetim with support from industrial manufacturers Gima and Agco – Massey Ferguson and has been endowed with technological platforms equipped with test benches that will be pooled to the benefit of industrial manufacturers.
