Optimization of gear shape correction

This study, conducted on behalf of Cetim’s “Mechanical transmissions” professional commission, compares different approaches used to optimize the tooth form modifications, via such tools as Gear, KISSsys (Kisssoft) and Romax Designer. The comparison was carried out on the basis of the results obtained, in terms of shaft displacements, distribution of the contact pressure on gear tooth flanks and convergence of the optimisation methods integrated into Romax Designer and Gear. The purpose was to define optimal micro-geometric shape corrections regarding the gear tooth contact pattern and the fluctuations of the quasi-static transmission error.
