Nitrogen treatment specification
Standard NF A 02-051 (Nitriding and nitrocarburizing treatments of mechanical parts and steel tools) was cancelled in July 2010 by BN Acier. Further to this cancellation and in order to fill the space thus created, Cetim's Heat Treatment Commission decided to provide to instructing parties and applicators, with a “Cetim" specification stemming from its works to update the old standard. This document presents the main modifications desired by the industrial partners (deletion of certain hardness and performance values, indication of certain reservations, modification of criteria, tolerances, etc.). The broad lines of the specification are then described, in particular information to be included on drawings, the characteristics to be obtained after nitriding treatment, checks, etc. A project for a new standard is underway.
