Forging: a new precision class in the standard?
The AFF (French forging association) and Cetim have initiated a debate about the forging strategy, in order to define the major collective R&D orientations for the forthcoming years.
During the discussions between forging companies, the AFF, Cetim and contractors in the automobile sector, it was suggested to add a precision class higher than the current class E in standard EN 10243-1.
Further to an investigation, it was eventually decided not to follow through with this project.
However, the increase of the weight limit to 1,000 kg is under study.
