Evaluation of the MTConnect standard
To support competition with larger companies, small and medium-sized enterprises need an open and accessible system for retrieving information from their machine-tools and thereby improving reactivity. The new MTConnect communication standard might meet these needs. Originating in the United States, this protocol has undergone a European market acceptance analysis (S1945) and has been installed on a test machine for in-depth analysis of the deployment of this type of data in a workshop, examining the implementation approach, the results obtained and the identified limits.
