Belt conveyors

The first version of this guide was written in 2001 by a working group made up of on the one hand industrial furnace manufacturers, and on the other conveyor belt manufacturers and users with the aim of providing readers of news about the conveyor belt technology required to ensure correct operation and optimisation of their life span. Updated in 2016 at the request of the manufacturers on Cetim’s thermal treatment and fasteners committees, it is now once again being brought up to date by this publication. Conveyor belts, which are essential components of the furnaces that they serve, always operate in difficult conditions and the various effects of these conditions lead to their deterioration. Cetim therefore considers it worthwhile making this guide (9Q334) available to users so as to allow them to gain a deeper understanding of this element in order to increase its life span, by restoring the roles of the furnace and belt manufacturers and of the user, by briefly describing a conveyor belt installation and the different types in use, and by listing the main reasons for deterioration and the proposed recommendations.
