Assessment of three alternative welding methods
This study is intended to determine, for metal furniture industrial manufacturers, the possibilities of application of three alternative assembly processes (resistance-seam welding, oxyhydrogen torch brazing, powder plasma welding) and to assess the gains related to these processes. On the basis of the results, the constraints and use limits of resistance-seam welding were identified, the introduction of the oxyhydrogen process in lieu of the oxy-acetylene process was considered for tube brazing operations, and the relevance of the powder plasma process was confirmed (subject to more thorough technological studies).
