Soil survey automated by Geomatech

By choosing a mechanical piston, an electromechanical actuator and an overall mechatronic system, Geomatech has renewed its entire range of pressure meters and made soil survey simpler.

In order to develop their new range of automated pressure meters, Geomatech and its subsidiary Apageo turned to the competences of Cetim and Cedarnet.

"As far as the mechanical part is concerned, we know how to do it, and we do it well. But we needed an overall view in terms of mechatronics and calculation capacities. This is what Cetim provided us with. We also relied on the competences of Cedarnet for: system architecture, automation, electronic development and information technology", Jean‑Pierre Arsonnet, CEO of Apageo explains.

The initial idea consisted in replacing gas with a mechanical piston driven by an electromechanical actuator.

"Now we are able to obtain much higher pressure than with gas", Jean‑Pierre Arsonnet continues. "Our standard model reaches 100 bars, and we are heading towards 250 or even 500 bars with this same principle, when we could not exceed 200 bars with gas. For soft soils, we can remain at 50 bars."

Thanks to these innovations, Geomatech now intends to offer a full range of products for both the French and foreign markets.
